A PERFECT CIRCLE Guitarist Completes Work On Soundtrack, Ponders The Future
October 10, 2005According to a posting at APerfectCircle.net, A PERFECT CIRCLE guitarist Billy Howerdel recently completed the soundtrack for the video game Jak X: Combat Racing, due out October 18 for PlayStation 2 from Naughty Dog Software. Gamespy has posted an interview with Billy discussing the project at this location. While about 20 songs were apparently written for the soundtrack, Billy had some help from Danny Lohner (ex-NINE INCH NAILS),Dean Menta (ex-FAITH NO MORE),and a friend of his named Eric Bass. When it came to performing the songs for recording, Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE) played most of the drums, though Atom Willard (THE OFFSPRING) and Joey Castillo (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) played on some tracks as well. Paz Lenchantin (ex-A PERFECT CIRCLE) played bass on a couple tracks, and Troy Van Leeuwen (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) and Wes Borland (LIMP BIZKIT) both played guitar on a few tracks each.
Now that the Jak X soundtrack is done, Billy will presumably resume work on his new band/solo project (even he's not sure which it is yet). When asked about the status of A PERFECT CIRCLE, Billy replied: "[A PERFECT CIRCLE is] on hiatus or done until further notice. When Maynard's [Keenan, A PERFECT CIRCLE/TOOL frontman] done with his thing, and I'm done with my thing, he and I will talk about doing something again. But I look at it the same way I looked at it before we did our second album... I don't expect anything, but it would be nice if it would happen."
